Guitar Teacher St Albans

Hey there! I'm Dimitar Daskalov, a musician with a lifelong passion for music. Born in the beautiful town of Varna on the Black Sea coast in Bulgaria, I discovered my love for music at a very young age.

Despite having no musicians in my family, I amazed everyone with my ability to sing an extensive repertoire of songs by the age of 4, making it evident that music was my calling.

However, when I was 4 and a half, a life-altering accident occurred when I was struck in the head by a heavy metal swing on a playground. This resulted in a brain injury that required a month-long hospital stay, leaving me with mobility, speech, and colour recognition challenges. Through sheer determination, I made a full recovery, although the ability to sing was unfortunately lost.

Around the age of 6, my parents noticed my love for music and enrolled me in guitar lessons. While I progressed steadily, it wasn't until later that I truly excelled. At the crossroads of my musical journey, facing the choice of pursuing a career in music, I decided to dedicate myself fully to the guitar. The competition was fierce, with the conservatory typically accepting only one or two guitarists each year. Through relentless practice and unwavering commitment, I secured a coveted spot, becoming the sole candidate accepted out of thirteen applicants. This achievement filled me with immense pride and happiness.

While studying at the Conservatory of Sofia I discovered that one of my all-time favourite guitarists and musicians - George Vassilev is happened to be joining a conservatory in Switzerland as a teacher.  Eager to pursue excellence, I moved to the city of Sion and spent nearly a decade studying classical guitar, earning both my bachelor's and master's degrees under George's guidance. He not only elevated my musicianship and technical prowess but also reignited my passion for singing and songwriting.

Upon completing my studies, I was compelled to seek new horizons, which led me to the vibrant city of London. Fortunate circumstances brought me to a great private music school in London, where I have been teaching guitar for over a decade. It was in London that I also met my wife and started a family, further enriching my life.

In addition to teaching, my journey has steered me towards exploring the world of recording and producing music. Collaborating with my original band, case49, I indulge my passion for creating and performing music, unleashing my artistic vision. With more than 300 songs in my repertoire, I am also passionate about singing songs with the guitar and would be more than happy to help you with that too.

With over 15 years of teaching experience, I'm known for being a friendly and experienced teacher. I have received multiple awards from international competitions, and my biggest success as a teacher came when one of my students competed with over 1000 children for only 14 places in a grammar school with a music program in London—and she succeeded!

While my primary domain is teaching classical guitar, I am also a songwriter, producer, and sound engineer. If you have an interest in these areas, I can provide guidance and support.

I believe in showing my students the full range of what they can do with the guitar, tailoring teaching methods to the needs of each individual. I have experience teaching grades, with several students passing Trinity grade 8 with distinction and many others achieving great results in their grade 5, 6, or 7 exams. My methodical approach when working towards grades has consistently yielded excellent outcomes.

I am adept at teaching all ages and levels, from children as young as 5 to adults in their 80s and beyond. If you're looking to explore the world of guitar, whether it's classical, songwriting, or production, I'm here to help you discover your musical potential.
